Steven Frank Benjamin, 73, of Crookston, and a former resident of Roosevelt, MN, passed away at the Benedictine Living Community Crookston on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
Steven was born in Sacramento, CA on September 15, 1950, the son of Veryl and Beulah (Jones) Benjamin. The family would later move to Minnesota and at the age of 17 Steven enlisted in the US Marine Corps on November 14, 1967. Upon completing his initial training, he was deployed to the jungles of Viet Nam. He returned to the States safely and received his Honorable Discharge on November 13, 1970. Steven was united in marriage to Lynn Dee Woolman on September 18th, 1971 in Minneapolis. Over the passing years they would be blessed by the births of 3 sons: Christopher, Eric, and Philip. During his career years Steven worked in sales for various auto parts businesses until his retirement.
Steven was a long-time member of the American Legion. His favorite pastimes included open water and ice fishing, going out as often as possible. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and enjoyed working on cars belonging to family and friends. He loved going golfing and bowling and spending time with his family. Steven had been making his home in Roosevelt with his son, Eric, until April of 2023 when due to failing health he became a resident of BLC Crookston.
Steven is survived by the love of his life, Lynn Benjamin of Farmington, MN; 3 sons: Christopher and Kristine Benjamin of Cannon Falls, MN, Eric and Kelly Benjamin of Roosevelt, MN, and Philip Benjamin of Farmington; 7 grandchildren, all Benjamins: Kevin, Shane, Kyle (Shelby) Gage (Sarah), Abbie, Alivia, and Austin; a great-grandson, Aiden; brother, Randy Benjamin of Sunland, CA; and sister, Verla Benjamin of Sauk Rapids, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Veryl and Beulah; and brother, Darwin.
