Timothy Yates

Timothy E. Yates, age 51, known as "Red" of Crookston, died Friday, January 31, 2014. Tim was born on August 2, 1962 in Crookston, son of Roy and Adeline (Barnes) Yates. He grew up and was educated at Crookston, graduating from high school here. He worked a variety of jobs including Lamperts Lumber, D&C Auto, Ray Pierce Washer & Dryer Repair, Leever's Meats as a meat cutter, E&S Standard and Yates Oil. He worked in the Twin Cities for a short time doing landscaping and cleaning, before returning to Crookston, where he worked for Skinner Roofing, the Lube Center, Taco Johns, Hardees and later Arbys. He lived in Crookston, rural Red Lake Falls, Buffalo, MN returned to Crookston. He had worked with Pool's Tree Service, Red Owl, Dee Industries, Phoenix Industries, Dahlgren Seed, Jerry's Sand Blasting, UMC and with the Parks and Rec in Crookston. He was united in marriage with Vickie Lunak on December 11, 2000 in Crookston. He is survived by his wife: Vickie; three brothers: Greg and Pat Yates, both of Crookston, Elgin Yates of Buffalo, MN; two brothers-in-law: Alfred (Brenda) Lunak of Alexandria, MN and John Lunak of Woodbury, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Adeline Yates; and a brother: Sterling in 1965. Tim's memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston. Visitation will be for one hour before the service. Inurnment will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston, MN. Stenshoel-Houske is assisting with the arrangements.
