Tyler Edwards

Tyler Jon Edwards, age 30, of Crookston, MN, died unexpectedly in his sleep at Vernon, WI on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. He had been visiting his grandmother, Alicia Gregoire, for the past month. Tyler was born at Grand Forks, ND on May 26, 1983, the son of Gregory Edwards and Roberta Vervalen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended East Grand Forks public schools. As a youngster Tyler enjoyed participating in tai-kwon-do and playing hockey. He was a member of the Green Wave varsity hockey team and graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High in 1997. Tyler was a hard worker all his life, and after high school moved to the Twin Cities where he worked for a landscaping company. Upon his return to Grand Forks he was employed at Henningsen Cold Storage for several years as a fork lift operator. Most recently Tyler had been working for DEE Incorporated in Crookston, working in the foundry. He also did truck detailing for his step-father's business, Gregoire Trucking. Tyler's eight year-old daughter, Ava Grace, provided the passion needed in his life, and he treasured every moment he was able to be with her. During his recent weeks with Grandma Alicia, he took great pride in restoring her three-acre property. Working long days pruning her trees with a chainsaw, trimming and shaping shrubbery, building a fence, and spending lots of time on the lawn, created a show place for her that could have been featured in a magazine. Tyler's favorite pastimes included working on his car, grouse hunting with his dog, "Spot", fishing, and snowmobiling. He was a loyal Twins and Vikings fan since childhood, and had never given up on them. He had an engaging, easy going personality and marvelous sense of humor, and will be lovingly remembered as a great dad, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. Family members include Tyler's beloved daughter, Ava Grace Edwards of Grand Forks, ND; his parents, Roberta "Robbie" and Tim Gregoire of Crookston, MN, and Greg Edwards of Cottage Grove, MN; 5 brothers and sisters: Andrea (Austin) of Grand Forks, Keeley, a student at SCSU in St. Cloud, MN, Ian and Brandon of Crookston, and Rachel, a student at SCSU; 2 nephews, Kadin and Cameron; his grandparents, Ray and Marilyn Vervalen of Mentor, MN and Alicia Gregoire of Vernon, WI; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Byron and Gloria Edwards, and Ken Gregoire; and an infant nephew, Mason. May God richly bless Tyler's memory.





A memorial service celebrating the life of Tyler Jon Edwards will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston with the Rev. Greg Isaacson, officiating. Visitation with the family will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date at Memorial Park South in Grand Forks.
