Vivian Hanson, age 84, died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Riverview Health in Crookston, MN with her loving family at her side.

Vivian Mary Gleason was born on June 20, 1929 at White Earth, MN to Frank and Pauline (Oppegard) Gleason. Vivian grew up on the family farm in Lengby, MN. She attended the Antell School in Lengby and graduated from Mahnomen High School. After graduation from nursing school in Minneapolis, she worked at Franklin Hospital and as a private nurse for a few years before returning to Lengby to help take care of her Dad and Grandfather. In 1951, Vivian moved to Crookston and worked at St. Francis Hospital and Northwestern Bell. She was united in marriage with Orland "Orlie" Leonard Hanson on April 15, 1953 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston, MN. The couple lived on their farm in Fairfax Township, south of Crookston. Orlie and Vivian moved from the farm to town in 1988, when Orlie retired from farming. Vivian enjoyed gardening and together they spent time at their cabin on Leech Lake relaxing and enjoying fishing and boat rides with their family and friends. Vivian always liked taking Sunday afternoon drives with Orlie that often included a stop at a Dairy Queen and making deliveries to the field.

Vivian loved her family and friends and her kind soul was felt by all who knew her. Sharing a smile and putting others first was a natural response for her. Vivian was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she enjoyed attending any event they were involved in. She cherished lifelong friendships she made with her Birthday Club Group, weekly coffee group, lunches with her Northwestern Bell group and C & G Red Hatters. Organizations Vivian served as a member of include, the St. Francis of Assisi Circle Group, Catholic Daughters of America, Villa St. Vincent Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Eagles. Vivian was a longtime member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, where she served as a co-chairperson of the Cathedral Funeral Guild.
